The Story

Anthony Ercegovich was born on February 5, 1925, in Fairhope, PA. He was a cheerful and humorous individual who brought joy to those around him. After completing one year of high school at Marion High School in Belle Vernon, Anthony was drafted into the military. He faithfully served his country before returning home. Following the war, Anthony married Mary Anne Katchmark, and together they had three children: Mary, Anthony, and Roberta. Anthony worked as a career coal miner at Bethlehem Mine #60 near Bentleyville, PA. Outside of work, he enjoyed various hobbies such as gardening, canning, cooking, hunting, fishing, plumbing, and woodworking. Anthony was also an active member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 and Belle Vernon Moose Lodge #209. He later became a grandfather in 1978 with the birth of his granddaughter, Jacque, and again in 1981 with the birth of another granddaughter, Kelly. Once his children grew, Anthony spent a lot of time at his cabin in Tionesta, PA, indulging in his love for the outdoors, fishing, and hunting. On March 15, 2006, Anthony passed away at the Southwestern Veterans Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is buried with his wife in Belle Vernon Cemetery in North Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania. Anthony's charismatic nature and love for laughter can be seen in the cherished moments captured in his photos.
